Serie A: Turin rivals square off

Pirlo
Torino host Juventus on Sunday in the Turin derby, while Roma attempt to continue their best start ever when the club entertain Bologna in Serie A.

Roma’s 2-0 win over Sampdoria on Wednesday was the club’s fifth successive victory to start the Serie A campaign, and Rudi Garcia’s men will put their perfect mark on the line on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico against Bologna.

The capital club sit two points clear at the top of the league, while Bologna are yet to record a win but have drawn three of their five matches.

Juventus started its title defense in good form, winning four of its first five games with one draw, a 1-1 deadlock against Inter Milan.

Antonio Conte’s team picked up three more points on Wednesday with a 2-1 comeback victory against Chievo.

Cyril Thereau’s first-half goal put Chievo in front, but Fabio Quagliarella equalised shortly after the break and Alessandro Bernardini’s own goal provided the difference.

Torino has also started relatively well this season with eight points from five games and the club has the league’s leading scorer in Alessio Cerci, who netted two goals in Torino’s 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona on Wednesday.

Inter Milan struggled to a ninth-place finish last season, but the Nerazzurri have claimed four wins from five games and will look to add another three points to its total on Sunday at Cagliari.

Atalanta have lost four of their five matches and the club host Udinese, Chievo visit Catania, Hellas Verona play host to Livorno, Lazio invade Sassuolo and the weekend concludes on Monday with Fiorentina taking on Parma.
