Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako
Indications emerged Sunday that the frosty political rivalry between former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, had been resolved.
It was gathered that the duo unanimously agreed to put their political differences behind them in order to join forces against the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur-led executive of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which they claimed had introduced injustice and divisions in the party across the country.
Addressing journalists in Yola, the factional chairman of PDP in the state, Alhaji Mijinyawa Kugama, who is believed to be Nyako’s loyalist, called on the supporters of Atiku and Nyako not to see themselves as political rivals again, adding that the two gladiators had agreed to bury their differences in the interest of national stability, peace and understanding.
Kugama said in politics, there is no permanent friend, nor permanent enemy, adding that Nyako’s priority was the interest of the state and party, which was why he was calling on other party faithful to join hands with the former vice-president, as one of the founding fathers of the party to save PDP from drowning ahead of the 2015 general election.
He said there was no going back and reiterated that the two PDP chieftains had resolved their issues and were committed to promoting democracy and the rule of law in Nigeria through the New PDP headed by Alhaji Kawu Baraje.
Kugama further explained that Tukur was incapable of piloting the affairs of the party, where the rights and privileges of members could be protected.
He stressed that the New PDP believed that their exclusion from the PDP Convention on August 31 was evidence of the arbitrary and unconstitutional manner the PDP was being administered.
