Etisalat
Nigeria lived up to their pre-match promise of bouncing back to
contention in the 2013 Nigeria Telecommunication Games with Tekena
Orugbani turning in a superlative performance that netted four of the
goals in their to 5-0 defeat of Alcatel Lucent.
The goals have catapulted the Etisalat
forward on equal numbers with Alichie Ihekwumere of MTN in the chase for
the Golden Boot. But the goals were late in coming as the first half
was without goals on either side only for the Etisalat squad to go on
rampage for the haul of goals.
“I am so happy to have scored four goals
in this game, especially after we had been beaten 4-0 in the previous
week,” Orugbani said.
For Enebeli Andrew, the victory has erased the disappointment of their loss to MTN in the opening match last week.
But Hassan Olumide, the captain of
Alcatel while acknowledging that they had an off day blamed the pitch as
a factor that contributed to their defeat.
“We are used to playing on synthetic
turf but came here to play on a turf that our opponents are used to. But
we are not deterred especially as we have the opportunity to practice
here before our next match against MTN,” he said.
