The former VVV Venlo winger who was the club's leading scorer with 11 league goals last term for the Russian league and Cup champions, gave his side the lead in the 24th minute after he latched on to a pass from Georgi Schennikov before a brace from Spartak Gogniev cancelled out his strike.
Brazilian striker Vagner Love salvaged a point for the Russian champions when he struck an 86th minute equaliser for Lenoid Slutsky's side.
The Nigeria international had earlier kicked off the 2013/14 campaign by lifting the Russian Super Cup with a 3-0 win over Zenit St Petersburg in the Russian season opening match.
