Chelsea are lining up Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo as a replacement for Super Eagles midfielder John Obi Mikel who is set to depart Stamford Bridge this summer, according to the Metro.
Mikel who incidentally signed a new five year contract at the club only last summer is not thought to be in new manager Jose Mourinho’s plans, and is likely to depart for Turkey this summer.
Galatasary and Trabzonspor are both battling for the holding midfielder’s signature, while mega rich AS Monaco are also thought to be interested.
MIkel it would be recalled backed his national team coach Stephen Keshi to take the Super Eagles to greater heights as Nigeria look towards qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after enduring vehement criticisms from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and even former colleagues including Sunday Oliseh, following the country’s performance at the FIFA Confederations Cup last month in Brazil.
